Prospect Index

Open data, three countries.

22,354,096 businesses in the US, UK and Germany. No scraping, no platform terms to fall foul of.

Where it comes from

Every record originates in the Overture Maps Foundation places dataset — open, published monthly, assembled from OpenStreetMap, Meta, Microsoft and Esri contributions.

It ships under CDLA-Permissive 2.0, which allows redistribution, including commercially. That licence is the reason this directory can exist at all.

Is it current?

Overture publishes monthly; this build uses release 2026-08-19.0. Re-running the ingest replaces the dataset wholesale, so closures and new openings come through on that cadence.

Why no ratings or reviews?

They belong to the platforms that collect them and are not openly licensed, so reproducing them here would not be lawful. You get the factual core instead: name, category, address, coordinates, phone and website.

How complete is it?

Uneven, and honestly so. Open data is densest where contributors are most active — strong in cities, thinner in rural areas. 20,011,145 records carry a phone number and 17,889,678 a website. Unnamed and permanently-closed records are dropped on import.

Is any of this from Google?

No. No Google Maps, no Places API, no scraped Google content. Their terms forbid storing and redisplaying place data, which is the whole reason this is built on Overture instead.

Can I use it for outreach?

Yes. The licence notice ships on its own sheet in every export and has to travel with the file. UK marketing calls additionally need a TPS/CTPS screen no older than 28 days under PECR reg 21 — the site marks numbers from a screening file you import, and never guesses.
